Diabetes UK is the largest organisation in the UK working for people with diabetes, funding research, campaigning and helping people live with the condition.
With over 350 voluntary groups managed by volunteers, the challenge was to allow local groups to produce relevant local messages while staying on brand and part of the bigger picture.
We have used Vx to begin the roll out of hundreds of voluntary websites. The system had to be powerful enough to allow for regional variations of look, feel and styling. At the same time head office had to control elements of brand, central delivery of key messages and to ensure brand compliance of all communications were delivered by the regional groups. Because of the nature of the regional administrators (all of whom are volunteers and many of whom have limited computer or internet skills) the system had to be very easy to use, completely intuitive and the administrators needed easy access to support facilities.
Voluntary groups are able to communicate effectively with their audience and feel closer to head office while volunteers feel they are supported by the brand. End users who access the Diabetes brand get the same consistency no matter which online presence they visit and are given a professional and enlightened user experience.
